    Notes

    • High school must focus on teenagers reading
    • Screen time has been linked to a number of health problems
    • Direct instruction in school and time managing are the two solution

    Summary

Since teenagers start using phones and laptop for a long hours the rate of  books selling in Australia shows nationally a significant drop especially year 7 and by year 5. According to the Australian curriculum and Reporting Authority  Australian high schools must focus on teenagers reading skills if literacy and numeracy are to improve. When teenagers become obsessed with their phones and laptop their reading levels fail. Many studies show that screen time has bad effects on children's  health for example obesity. the solution comes in two ways one is direct instruction in schools and time could be set aside of home for example a half hour reading period would help families read together.

    Personal reflation

In my opinion the using of phones and laptops is not the real problem but the way and the time that we spend on it is the real one. For solution it takes a while to get a child used to start reading inserted of playing games on their phones. The solution start from schools by using strategies to improve reading skills  and to be continued at home for example  parents should start observe their kids and guide them to the right truck by minimizing time that  kids or teenagers spend watching TV or playing games on their phones and make a time for reading .

Smoking could raise mental illness risk

    Notes:

    • Smoking may be a factor for developing psychotic illnesses
    • Secondhand smoke may increase the risk of stroke
    • Smoking's impact on levels of the chemical dopamine in the brain

    Summary:

Scientists have suggested that smoking could be a factor for developing psychotic illnesses like schizophrenia. The analysis by researchers from King College London, found that people who suffer from psychosis are three times more likely to smoke than the rest. Secondhand  smoke may increase the risk of stroke by about 30% for nonsmokers as study has warned and it has also found that even after adjustment for other stroke factors such as heart disease, the 30% risk remained. Smoking impact on levels of the chemical dopamine in the brain, which also plays a role in psychotic illness.

    Personal reflection:

All studies has found that smoking causes a serious risk whether are mental illness or physical illness, so every smoking's person should take a serious step to start decreasing the amount of cigarettes and stop completely smoking .  The risk could reach to another persons life its not only about smokers life, so we have to start thinking wisely which way we choose.

    Soaking up languages

    Notes:

    • Fairvale public school has a high percentage of non-English-speaking backgrounds
    • They are better at coping languages than adults
    • Little people are resilient
    • Fairvale school welcome the different cultures

    Summary:

About 90 percent of the students in Fairvale school are non-English-speaking backgrounds mainly Arabic and Vietnamese. These students are much better than adults at coping languages, Generally little people who are enthusiastic to learn, they are resilient. Finally Fairvale public school prided itself on its multiculturalism.

    personal reflation :

My point of view is these students which English is their second language have a bit difficulties to deal with their native language and the  new language (English) as well as the new environment, but from other side they got a valuable skill, it could be useful later on.
